Chapter 1: The Bouncy Ball
Tommy loved his bouncy ball. It was bright red with sparkly swirls, and it could bounce higher than his head when he threw it just right.
"Tommy," Mom called from the kitchen, "please take your ball outside. You know the rules about playing ball in the house."
"Okay, Mom!" Tommy called back.
But outside looked cold and gray. The wind was blowing the trees, and Tommy could see leaves swirling around the backyard. Inside was warm and cozy.
"Just one little bounce," Tommy whispered to himself. "One tiny bounce won't hurt anything."
He tossed the ball gently. Boing! It bounced on the carpet and came right back to his hands. See? That was fine!
Tommy smiled and threw it a little harder. Boing, boing! The ball bounced twice and rolled under the coffee table. Still okay!
Maybe just one more throw. Tommy pulled his arm back and tossed the ball with a big swoosh.
